Former operators. Committed investors. Genuine partners.
Every member of the KnownWeil investment team has spent significant time building and scaling technology companies before becoming an investor. We bring operational empathy alongside financial rigour to every engagement.
Maximilian Weil co-founded KnownWeil Capital in 2019 following fifteen years as a technology operator and angel investor. He serves as Managing Partner, overseeing investment strategy, fund operations, and the firm's limited partner relationships.
Prior to founding KnownWeil, Maximilian served as Chief Technology Officer and later Chief Product Officer at Episync, a Paris-based enterprise workflow automation company that was acquired by a major US cloud platform in 2017. He subsequently led the European product integration at the acquiring company, gaining rare insight into the acquisition lifecycle from both sides.
Before Episync, Maximilian spent five years in software engineering roles at Deutsche Bank's innovation division and at McKinsey's digital practice in Frankfurt, where he advised large financial institutions on technology transformation programs. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and an MBA from INSEAD.
Maximilian leads KnownWeil's investments in enterprise software and fintech infrastructure. He serves on the boards of Arkeos, Fenix Finance, Delphi Compliance, and Brightshore Payments (acquired). He is particularly focused on companies where AI-enabled automation creates structural cost advantages versus legacy software incumbents.
Isabelle Dubois-Laurent co-founded KnownWeil Capital alongside Maximilian Weil in 2019. As General Partner, she leads the firm's investment process for developer tools and cybersecurity, and manages the firm's relationship with European institutional co-investors.
Isabelle spent twelve years as an operator before transitioning to venture investing. She was a founding engineer and later VP of Engineering at Cybrella, a London-based identity security company, where she built the engineering organization from three people to over eighty before the company's growth-stage funding round. Cybrella was subsequently acquired by a major US cybersecurity platform.
Prior to Cybrella, Isabelle worked as a senior software engineer at Palantir Technologies in London and as a security researcher at the French national cybersecurity agency ANSSI. She holds a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique and a graduate degree in Information Systems Security from Telecom Paris.
Her technical background enables unusually deep diligence on engineering architecture, security design, and developer experience. She is the lead investor in Novalux Systems, Meridian Protocol, and Cornerstone API. She is particularly interested in the emerging category of AI-native security tooling and in developer infrastructure that improves the reliability of distributed systems.
Tobias joined KnownWeil in 2022 after four years in product management at N26 and two years at a Berlin-based B2B SaaS company where he led go-to-market strategy across DACH and the Nordics. He focuses on applied AI and industrial technology investments.
Sophie joined KnownWeil in 2023 following three years in investment banking at Rothschild and two years as CFO of a Paris fintech startup. She manages relationships with portfolio companies across the fund's Southeast Asia pipeline and focuses on fintech and enterprise software.
Alexandre joined KnownWeil in 2024 as an Associate after completing his Master's in Financial Economics at Sciences Po Paris and working in technology M&A at KPMG. He supports sourcing, diligence, and portfolio monitoring across the full investment team.
KnownWeil Capital benefits from a distinguished group of advisors who provide strategic counsel to the partnership and serve as expert resources for portfolio companies on specific functional challenges.
